week 3 in Kona!

Week 3 - Father Heart of God

Wow! I don't even know that I can sum up this week! Thank you, John (our speaker) and thank you, Lord for speaking through him. Everything he said was SO needed!

This week we talked about how God just simply wants to be our FATHER! A lot of people in Compassion have a distorted view of authority. Either their authority figure hasn't been there, has abused them, or something like that. And it's been super hard for them to understand that Jesus can be our father! And seeing what that really looks like. For example, "if Jesus is our father than how is he going to be any different from MY father?!" That's such a legit questions. So yeah, hearing what he had to say about Jesus was beautiful. Jesus LOVES us. He just wants us to let Him love us unconditionally. And He wants us to realize that nothing, I mean NOTHING, we do can make Him love us any less! Unreal. It's so beautiful! We also learned about resting in Jesus. Jesus just wants us to wrap ourselves under His wing. We may have tons of things we want to fix or tons of mistakes we want to go away from but in the process we can rest in Him! We can rest in the fact that Jesus loves us so much and that will never change.. it'll only grow stronger! It's like, "how can Jesus not love us.. He created us! Not only that but He CHOOSES to love us.. always!"

One thing John said that I loved - "Don't base your relationship with God based on what you've done but who you are in God!"

This was also a huge week for the guys. Dawn and Pieter have been talking a lot about passivity and the men not being leaders. So this week that was addressed. And wow, it was incredible and powerful! The guys are true leaders! They have stepped up.. they are mighty warriors.. they are compassionate warriors.. they are MEN OF GOD! After that week everything changed.. in an amazing way! The guys talked about how they were going to defend us and how they were trustworthy! How they are nothing like any of the guys who have hurt the girls in the past! They are here to be our BROTHERS! And man, have they been that! I have never felt so important and special in my life. Not having a brother (until recently) has made a huge impact! But now I have 30 new brothers in Christ! Praise God! They have made me feel SO special! I'm very thankful for true brothers!
