sweet children.

I just got back from helping out with little kids at this center for women called the Lovelady Center. It's basically where single moms go if they want to seek freedom, help, and care for their kid(s). I went there over the summer and volunteered with my church and I fell in love. So I went back today and I just love all the kids there. There was this one little girl I met over the summer named Phalon, she is soo precious! I was hoping that when I went back I'd be able to find her and I did. : ) It definitely made me smile! She's the sweetest! And then after I had my fill of 3 and 4 year olds I went over to the under 1 room. I walked in and no baby was crying. I thought, "Well maybe they just have it more under control over here cause there are far less kids." Then I started talking to one of the ladies in charge and she said that they hardly get any real love! Their moms are gone all day working or doing something and so all the love they get is from the workers in charge that day. And the workers are all moms or women who are part of the LoveLady Center. So although they are helpful, they also are learning a lot themselves about being a loving, caring, nurturing mom. So then I thought, maybe they've just gotten past the point of tears.. quite unfortunately. You know when you hear those stories about orphan babies who've cried so much they just stop crying? I know this isn't too that extend but seriously, the number of people they have in that room working with the babies changes everyday. I mean there were 5 babies in that room today. I picked up this 3 month little boy and he had THE biggest smile on his face! It just made me smile. And this other little girl, she had to have been about 5 months, they said that she hadn't "talked" that much in 3 days! 3 days, she just sat there are sucked on her hands in her chair! COME ON! How can that happen to the poor children! It just breaks my heart. And all I did was pick her up and talk to her! I know those women are doing the best they can, I can see the positive, helpful attitudes in everything they were doing and saying, there just aren't enough of them for all the children! Anyways, I've definitely decided that I'm going to try and go back there more often! Those kids need as much love as they can. I can just see the loneliness on their faces. When I was helping with the 3 and 4 year olds there were 2 girls that said nothing.. they just sat there and did their own thing. And one little boy, he was the trouble child! He needs a lot of one-on-one attention.
I love every one of those kids! Thank God for that center too!

How could you NOT love these sweet kids?! : )
